PARTNER FEATURE: Stand on Your Head, Help a Friend with LLS
By: Sara Snyder
Since snowstorm Jonas thought we needed to stay inside and cuddle last Sunday, we have an extra special post on the blog for today's Bendy Brunch with the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
Meet Deb Copito- a rockstar Team in Training member with a talent for practicing headstands wherever she goes. "It's kinda become my thing," says Deb. "If I post a picture of my wine glass in a vineyard on Instagram, my friends ask, 'Where's the headstand? At a certain point, you have to have fun with yourself."
After nearly 20 years of gripping her mat, she still won't say she's an experienced yogi. "I love yoga because it helps me gain strength without getting hurt," mentions Deb. "Yoga is my dessert for getting outside."
If it's one thing we know about yogis, they never shy away from a challenge. Last year, Deb stepped outside of her comfort zone and joined close friend and leukemia warrior Lynne O'Brien's Team in Training. " I am not a runner, but I saw the amazing work Lynne was doing to raise money for something she cared about and wanted to join her," comments Deb. "It is so easy to write a check. All of the women who joined the team wanted to do something big together."
Team LOL (Love Our Lynn) is practically a small army. The team now has close to 100 members and has raised almost one million dollars since the team began. Don't underestimate the power of these ladies! "If you tell this group of women to do something, they'll make it happen," says Deb. "We solve the world's ills as we train and never stop laughing."
We are thrilled to partner with LLS for Bendy Brunch on this cold, yet clear Sunday to do our small part to kick blood cancer in the butt! May we all use our powers for good and do our best to give back to those who mean the most to us.
We can't wait to see you on the mat!
Cheers + Namaste,
Sara
