A Headstand A Day Keeps The Dr. Away
Feeling down, lack luster, or depressed? Flipping upside for a few moments a day provides a multitude of health benefits:
- Reverse blood flow. Inverting sends fresh blood to adrenal and pituitary glands. Regulating hormones secreted from these glands help with a range of functions such as blood pressure regulation, sex drive improvement, growth, cortisol (the stress hormone) regulation, improved immune system, and suppression of inflammatory reactions.
- Increase happiness. Flushing the adrenal glands detoxifies you and creates positive feelings.
- Give your heart a break. Flipping upside down increases the blood flow to the upper body, decreasing strain on the heart. Additionally, being upside down increases oxygenation of blood flow from your extremities. Bye bye, varicose veins!
- Strengthen core muscles. Inverting requires solid strength in the midsection. Want to fire up the abs more? Try getting getting into a headstand from pike position. Hello, rectus abdominis!
