Ravoire Le Pont Bandol Rosé
Varietal: Mouvedre and Grenache
Many of you probably enjoy your Rosé during the warmer months, but keep an open mind. Dry Rosé wines can be a wonderful compliment to many Fall inspired dishes. This Rosé has bright strawberry and raspberry notes with a clean and lively acidity. Try with a grilled cheese or with a homemade pizza. The wine will help you cut through the sharpness of the dairy and remind you that you can survive winter and possibly enjoy it.
Eroica Riesling 2013
AVA: Columbia Valley
I know, I know. A Rosé followed by a Riesling, bold decision and borderline I am closing out of this window and moving on with my life. STOP! Riesling is not just a summer or warm weather varietal. This grape is very versatile and can have wonderful apple and pear notes, which is exactly what this Eroica Riesling has! Fantastic to pair with steamed muscles and even better with a warm risotto.
Mazzei Toscana Poggio Badiola 2012 IGT
Varietal: Sangiovese & Merlot
One cannot speak, write, think, converse, etc. about wine without taking a quick and necessary trip to Italy. Use this blurb as your ticket across the pond. This Merlot & Sangiovese blend from Mazzei is a well-balanced bottle of wine. The blackberry and black cherry notes are fruity and not too sweet. There is noticeable oak on this wine to compliment the fruit which makes for a great paring with spaghetti carbonara. But, this wine is built for beef tenderloin with a balsamic sauce.
Oh, that's what you are making tonight? Send me your address I will bring the bottle. How does 8:00 PM sound?
Touron Mathilda Victoria Shiraz 2013
Michel Chapoutier has been producing delicious wine out of Victoria for close to two decades. This 2013 Shiraz follows suit. With notes of blackberries, black raspberries, and a hint of licorice, this wine will pair well with many meat or stew dishes. Anyone up for some beef stew that has been simmering the the crockpot all day? Preferably enjoyed next to or in the vicinity of a fireplace with actual burning wood plus blanket plus chick-flick. Catch my drift?
